5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan

Kabul:A 5.2-magnitude earthquake has struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan.

According to Qatar News Agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 110 kilometers. It was felt by residents in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, as well as in the northwestern regions of neighboring Pakistan.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant material damage resulting from the earthquake. Afghanistan is situated in a seismically active zone due to the convergence of tectonic plates. The country is near the collision zone between the Indian and Eurasian plates, which frequently leads to seismic tremors, particularly in the mountainous regions of the northeast, including the Hindu Kush mountain range.
