Fresh Protests in France See Decline in Participation Amid Security Measures

Paris:Fresh protests swept across France on Saturday against the rising cost of living and in support of young people. However, turnout was significantly lower compared to the previous three weeks, with heightened security measures in place, especially in Paris.

According to Qatar News Agency, the authorities are striving to prevent a recurrence of the rioting and looting that followed the demonstrations on October 17. Outside of Paris, approximately 7,000 people participated in 68 demonstrations on Saturday, indicating a notable decrease in participation.

The crisis in France initially began with a movement led by high school students protesting conditions in the national education system, which later expanded to include demands over the rising cost of living. In response, unions representing students and teachers in France have announced another strike planned for Tuesday to maintain pressure on the government to increase education spending.

In several city centers, including Rennes in the west, demonstrations were banned following what authorities described as serious acts of violence on Thursday.
