Geneva: GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met with Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Gilbert Houngbo in Geneva on Wednesday. The meeting focused on discussing issues of mutual interest and exploring ways to enhance cooperation between the GCC and the ILO.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting reviewed proposals to align joint efforts in support of the shared objectives of the GCC and the ILO. The discussions aimed to strengthen the collaboration and ensure both entities work together effectively to achieve common goals.
The GCC Secretary-General praised the efforts of the ILO in promoting social justice and protecting workers' rights. He highlighted that the GCC member states have enacted numerous laws and regulations to safeguard workers' rights in accordance with international standards.
Gilbert Houngbo expressed his appreciation for the continued support of the GCC countries for the ILO's work. He commended the progress made by these countries in advancing labor standards and improving workers' rights.
