In a joint statement on Thursday, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan highlighted the persistent nature of these attacks since February 28, with an escalation noted after the June 17 memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran. The joint statement called on the UN Security Council to pass a resolution demanding an immediate cessation of Iranian attacks, acknowledging the affected countries' right to self-defence, and considering additional measures if the aggressions persist. Furthermore, the seven nations commended their armed forces for defending national sovereignty and civilian populations and reiterated their commitment to the freedom and safety of navigation through strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Additionally, the countries expressed their willingness to collaborate with regional states and the International Maritime Organisation to establish permanent maritime security arrangements in line with international law, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, state sovereignty, and principles of good-neighborliness. The statement also expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting its security measures and commending its diplomatic efforts with Oman to reach a political resolution to the crisis in Yemen.
