Indian Air Force Antonov An-32 Crashes at Jorhat Air Base

Jorhat: An Indian Air Force Antonov An-32 military transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at Jorhat Air Force Station in northeastern India.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Indian Air Force issued a brief statement on Saturday, confirming the accident during landing and announcing an investigation to determine the cause. The statement did not specify the number of individuals aboard the aircraft or any potential casualties.

Local media outlets reported observing thick plumes of black smoke emanating from within the air base following the crash.

In 2019, another An-32 aircraft crashed after taking off from the same air base near the Chinese border, resulting in the deaths of all 13 people on board.

The Indian Air Force operates approximately 100 aircraft of the aging Russian-made type, which are primarily used for air transport missions.
