The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency seized a large amount of counterfeit currency and arrested its holders in Karbala. The Agency stated in a statement that: "Based on accurate intelligence information monitored by the Agency's detachments specialized in combating organized crime in Karbala Governorate, indicating the presence of two suspects riding a vehicle, in their possession of a large sum of counterfeit national currency coming from outside the governorate, intending to trade and sell it within the governorate, an intelligence and field follow-up team was immediately formed, a tight ambush was set up for them, they were arrested, the amount of money in their possession was seized, and the vehicle they were riding was seized." He added that when they were investigated, they explicitly admitted to their prior knowledge of the counterfeit money they were trying to circulate in the holy Karbala Governorate.
