Japanese Stocks Close Lower

Tokyo: The benchmark Nikkei 225 Index dropped 3.85% to close at ¥64,024.60, marking its sharpest one-day slide since March 9. The broader Topix also slid 2.45% to 3,852.38.

According to Qatar News Agency, there were 163 decliners on the Nikkei index against 61 advancers. The largest losers on the gauge were Sumco, which fell 12.8%, followed by Murata Manufacturing, down 10.1%, and Socionext Inc, which lost 10%.
