According to Qatar News Agency, the Nikkei 225 index climbed 1.4% to close at 67,743.85. The index trimmed some gains after rising as much as 2.4% earlier, following three consecutive days of losses. Meanwhile, the broader Topix index saw a rise of 0.4% to close at 4,020.37.
Semiconductor-related shares played a significant role in anchoring the rise of the Nikkei 225. Flash memory chipmaker Kioxia saw a significant surge of 8.3%, while chip testing equipment maker Advantest jumped 5.9%. Additionally, chip equipment manufacturer Tokyo Electron advanced by 5.5%, contributing to the overall positive trend in the market.
On the downside, the index's biggest percentage losers included Mitsubishi Materials Corp, which fell by 6.9%, and Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd, down 3.5%.
