Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized Sunday that his country stands with Syria in safeguarding its security, stability, and territorial integrity, as well as protecting its citizens.

According to Qatar News Agency, King Abdullah II was speaking following his reception of representatives of the countries participating in the meeting for Syria’s neighboring countries that was hosted by Jordan on Sunday.

The meeting discussed the importance of maintaining enduring coordination among Syria’s neighboring countries to address shared challenges, particularly regarding counter-terrorism, border security, and combating arms and narcotics trafficking.

In addition, King Abdullah II underlined the importance of creating suitable conditions for the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, enabling them to contribute to the reconstruction process.

The meeting brought together ministers of foreign affairs, ministers of defense, chiefs of staff, and heads of intelligence from Jordan, Turkiye, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon.
