North korea: North Korea on Sunday declared that its denuclearization is an "irreversibly finalized" issue, criticizing recent discussions between South Korea and the United States that reiterated the objective of North Korea's denuclearization.
According to Qatar News Agency, a spokesperson from the North Korean Foreign Ministry stated via the Korean Central News Agency that the United States and its allies are intensifying nuclear threats against Pyongyang through military alliances and joint exercises, while simultaneously urging North Korea to relinquish its nuclear arsenal.
The spokesperson emphasized that the United States and its allies' rhetoric and collaboration to pose a nuclear threat to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) are futile and cannot alter the DPRK's status as a nuclear weapons state. The spokesperson declared, "The 'denuclearization' is an irreversibly finalized matter."
North Korea accused the United States, Japan, and South Korea of escalating regional nuclear tensions and criticized perceived Western attempts to enforce illegitimate policies on sovereign states.
The Foreign Ministry highlighted that its nuclear program is designed to deter external threats, safeguard sovereignty and national security, and ensure regional stability. It affirmed that Pyongyang will persist in advancing its military and technological capabilities to counter "the growing threats from hostile countries."
Last week, officials from the United States and South Korea convened in Seoul during the Nuclear Advisory Group talks to explore methods to enhance nuclear deterrence and prepare responses to North Korea's expanding weapons program.
