Doha: At least one person was killed and 16 others were injured in a Russian attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, authorities said on Sunday.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 41 missiles and 125 attack drones overnight at targets across the country, including 25 ballistic missiles. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 108 drones and 18 missiles.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that most of the missiles were directed at Kyiv.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service indicated that the strikes sparked fires in five districts of the capital, damaging residential buildings, office premises, industrial facilities, a student dormitory, and vehicles.
The latest strike comes as Russia and Ukraine have intensified long-range attacks in recent months, underscoring the continued escalation of the war despite diplomatic efforts to halt the fighting.
