Qatar Charity Launches Solar-Powered Water Project Benefiting 5,000 in Tanzania

Dodoma:Qatar Charity (QC) has inaugurated a solar-powered integrated water project in Chiboli Village, Chamwino District, Dodoma Region, Tanzania. This initiative aims to provide safe and clean water access to approximately 5,000 residents, enhancing their quality of life.

According to Qatar News Agency, the project features a deep borehole, a 45,000-liter water storage tank, and two water distribution points. These facilities are expected to improve public health and hygiene, alleviate the difficulties associated with water collection, and support the socio-economic advancement of the area.

Chamwino District Commissioner Janeth Mayanja expressed gratitude towards QC for the project, highlighting its benefits to four villages, a health dispensary, and a secondary school. Previously, residents faced the challenge of traveling up to 3.5 kilometers to access water, an issue that this project seeks to resolve.

Acting Country Director of QC in Tanzania, Syed Shujaat Ali Shah, acknowledged the support from local authorities and communities that was crucial in completing the project. He reiterated QC's dedication to sustainable development efforts in Tanzania, focusing on assisting vulnerable communities.

This project is part of QC's broader initiatives in Tanzania's water sector. In the first half of the year, QC's Tanzania Branch executed several projects, including 30 wells with solar-powered systems.
