Qatar Engages in Diplomatic Exchanges and Condemns Attacks on Kuwait

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received a phone call from HE President of the United States of America Donald Trump. The conversation centered on the latest updates in the Middle East, focusing on the political and security developments taking place in the region, alongside regional and international efforts aimed at reducing escalation and enhancing stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, HH the Amir also sent a cable of congratulations to HE President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on the occasion of Azerbaijan's Republic Day. Similarly, HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani extended their congratulations through diplomatic cables to Azerbaijani leaders.

Further enriching Qatar's diplomatic outreach, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani engaged in a phone conversation with HE Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi. Additionally, HE President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa accepted the credentials of HE Mubarak bin Nasser Al Khalifa as Qatar's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (non-resident) to Zimbabwe.

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) announced the suspension of a decision to extend all types of expired or nearly expired entry visas, effective Sunday, June 7. This move is part of Qatar's administrative adjustments following the Eid Al Adha holidays and Hajj season, as Hamad International Airport (HIA) implements operational measures to ensure a smooth arrivals experience for residents and visitors.

In a separate development, the State of Qatar strongly condemned the targeting of the sisterly State of Kuwait with missiles and drones. Qatar views this attack as a blatant violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law.

On the sports front, Qatar's national football team suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Republic of Ireland in an international friendly held in Dublin. The match was part of Qatar's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
