Kuala lumpur: A Qatari refereeing team has been appointed to officiate Saturday's 2026 Malaysia Cup final between Johor Darul Ta'zim and Kuching City, reflecting continued Asian confidence in Qatari officiating.

According to Qatar News Agency, the crew includes referee Mohammed Al Shammari, assistants Yousef Aref Al Shammari and Khalid Ayed Khalaf, with Mishari Al Shammari serving as VAR referee.

The appointment highlights the strong reputation of Qatari referees in continental and international competitions.

The Malaysia Cup is among Asia's oldest football tournaments, first held in 1921.
