Antalya:Four construction workers lost their lives and one sustained injuries when a tornado hit a construction site in Antalya, southern Turkiye. The tornado demolished two containers used as accommodation for workers on Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin reported that two workers died on-site, while two others passed away from their injuries after being hospitalized. The fifth worker suffered minor injuries.

The tornado struck the Fevzi Cakmak neighborhood in the Kepez district, causing the five workers to be ejected from their containers. Additionally, a crane at the site was toppled, although no further casualties were reported.

Governor Sahin noted the unusual nature of the event, mentioning that the tornado's destruction was limited to the construction site, with no other reports of similar damage across the city.

Earlier in the month, severe weather conditions, including torrential rain and flash floods, impacted Istanbul, causing significant damage and resulting in at least three fatalities, as per media reports.
