UN Report Highlights Protection of Colonist Attacks by Israeli Forces in West Bank

Geneva: The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory has released a report detailing how armed colonist attacks on Palestinian civilians in the West Bank are systematically carried out with the protection and arming of Israeli occupation forces. The report suggests these attacks are part of a broader strategy aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians to pave the way for illegal settlement expansion and annexation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the report was presented during the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council. It highlighted that Israeli occupation forces systematically provide cover, weapons, and protection to colonist militias, enabling them to commit serious violations against Palestinian civilians. These violations include killing civilians, burning homes and agricultural lands, and destroying civilian property, all in violation of international humanitarian and human rights laws.

The Commission urged all UN member states to adhere to their international legal responsibilities, which include ceasing all interactions with illegal colonists and implementing measures such as sanctions to prevent the support of these illegal activities.

The report further underlined the illegitimacy of the ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories, calling for the complete evacuation of settlements and ensuring accountability for violations committed. It emphasized the Palestinian people's inalienable right to self-determination.
