Saudi arabia: Saudi Arabia began its 2026 FIFA World Cup journey with a 1-1 draw against Uruguay in their first Group H match of the tournament.

According to Qatar News Agency, Saudi Arabia dominated the first half, creating several chances, with Salem Al Dawsari and Abdulelah Al Amri leading the charge. Al Amri scored in the 40th minute, giving Saudi Arabia the lead.

In the second half, Uruguay increased their efforts to find an equalizer. Maxi Araujo scored in the 80th minute, securing a draw for the South American team.

With this result, Saudi Arabia earned its first point in the tournament. The teams in Group H each have one point, as the other match in the group ended in a goalless draw between Spain and Cape Verde, which was one of the biggest surprises of the first round.

Saudi Arabia is set to play its second group stage match against Spain on Sunday, while Uruguay will face Cape Verde.
