Riyadh: The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen announced that it is taking firm operational measures to protect commercial vessels transiting through the Bab Al Mandab Strait. These actions are in accordance with Customary International Humanitarian Law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

According to Qatar News Agency, Major General Turki Al Malki, the Official Spokesperson for the Coalition, stated that protection measures have been initiated for Coalition vessels passing through the strategic waterway. Al Malki emphasized that any threats made by the Houthi forces against these vessels will be addressed with swift and decisive action, categorizing such threats as violations of international law and acts of maritime piracy.

Al Malki further commented on claims concerning the closure of Yemeni ports and airports, labeling them as Houthi fallacies aimed at escalating tensions with the Yemeni Government and neighboring countries. He noted that it was the Houthis who were responsible for the closure of Sana'a International Airport, the destruction of the Yemenia Airways fleet, and the refusal of various initiatives to resume flight operations to and from the airport.
