Doha:Lesha Bank LLC (Public) announced on Thursday that Doha Investment has increased its investment in the Lesha Qatar Equity Fund. This move comes as part of Doha Investment's strategy to accelerate the next phase of Qatar's economic growth.

According to Qatar News Agency, Doha Investment is responsible for managing the Qatar Investment Authority's (QIA) domestic assets portfolio. The latest investment by Doha Investment follows an initial investment by QIA in the Fund earlier in August, indicating strong institutional confidence in the Fund's mandate and Lesha Bank's investment philosophy.

The Lesha Qatar Equity Fund is a Shari'a-compliant, actively managed equity fund that aims to expose investors to the long-term growth of Qatar's economy and capital markets. It seeks to achieve long-term capital growth and income through investment in a diversified portfolio of Shari'a-compliant Qatari equities.

Doha Investment's commitment to the Fund aligns with its long-term objectives of enhancing market liquidity, increasing institutional participation, and advancing the development of Qatar's capital markets and asset management industry. By directing long-term capital through professional asset managers, the initiative aims to deepen institutional involvement in companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) and support the growth of a more diversified investor base in Qatar.

Mohammed Ismail Al Emadi, Group CEO of Lesha Bank, expressed delight at Doha Investment's continued support for the Lesha Qatar Equity Fund, highlighting the confidence in the Fund and the disciplined active investment approach. Al Emadi emphasized the bank's goal of attracting investment into Qatar's domestic equity market, reinforcing the commitment to the market's long-term strength. He noted Lesha Bank's role as one of the four asset managers appointed under the Active Asset Management Initiative and the only local asset manager among them.
