Joint Statement by Arab, Islamic, and African Organizations Highlights Gaza Peace Agreement Implementation

Addis Ababa:The League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the African Union Commission have emphasized the importance of advancing to the second phase of the Gaza Peace Agreement. This phase involves achieving a permanent ceasefire, lifting the Israeli siege and occupation, reopening all crossing points for safe humanitarian aid flow, and beginning Gaza's reconstruction while maintaining territorial continuity and integrity.

According to Qatar News Agency, the organizations issued a joint statement during a consultative meeting in Addis Ababa, focusing on developments related to the Palestinian Cause. They highlighted their opposition to any Israeli attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, labeling such actions as war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law.

The statement also reiterated the need for a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, which includes ending Israeli occupation and establishing an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital. The organizations called for adherence to international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Furthermore, the joint statement urged states that have moved or plan to move their diplomatic missions to Occupied Jerusalem to reverse these decisions, which contravene UN Security Council Resolutions. It emphasized the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and the need for their dismantling.

The organizations also called on the international community to hold perpetrators of crimes against Palestinians accountable and to enforce Security Council resolution 904 (1994). They welcomed UN Human Rights Council resolutions and urged compliance with them.

The statement affirmed East Jerusalem as part of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967 and condemned efforts to alter its status. It also addressed violations against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons and called for international accountability.

The organizations reiterated support for the Palestine Liberation Organization as the legitimate representative of Palestinians and called for support for the Palestinian government. They also noted UNESCO's decision regarding the archaeological site of Sebastia and expressed support for UNRWA.

In conclusion, the organizations expressed appreciation for states recognizing Palestine and encouraged others to support its full UN membership, viewing this as crucial for implementing the two-state solution and achieving regional peace and stability.
