New Wave of Displacement in Southern Lebanon Due to Israeli Military Activity

Southern lebanon: A new wave of displacement has been reported in southern Lebanon following an escalation in Israeli military activity that began on Thursday, according to local sources. Heavy traffic was seen on roads leading from southern Lebanon towards Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and other areas considered safer, as large numbers of residents left villages and towns near the border.

According to Qatar News Agency, field sources indicated that many families had returned to their homes in recent weeks after a period of relative calm. This calm followed a US-Iran memorandum of understanding and its perceived impact on the situation in Lebanon. However, the renewed violence has prompted many to leave once again.

Earlier on Friday, Lebanon's health ministry reported that continuing Israeli air strikes from midnight through the morning resulted in 18 fatalities and 33 injuries. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that Washington expected a complete ceasefire across all fronts and called on all parties in the Middle East to honor their commitments.
