Ankara: The Arab League the Arab League has expressed firm opposition to recent Iranian actions that threaten the interests and territories of the Arab Gulf and its neighboring countries. Among these incidents are the targeted attacks on the Qatari liquefied natural gas tanker Al Rekayyat and the Saudi crude oil tanker Wadiyan, alongside ongoing missile and drone assaults on Kuwait and Bahrain.
According to Qatar News Agency, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy, in a statement released on Wednesday, underscored the serious risks associated with these escalating incidents. Fahmy highlighted the sensitive timing of these actions, which occur amidst ongoing regional and international efforts to promote de-escalation and ensure the regular flow of maritime navigation. He cautioned that these developments could jeopardize the progress of these diplomatic initiatives and lead the region back into a prolonged conflict with significant repercussions.
Fahmy reiterated the Arab League's unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, and extended solidarity to all Arab Gulf states. He emphasized that the security of the Arabian Gulf is a fundamental component of the Arab national security framework. Any attack on one of its states, their vital interests, or maritime routes, he noted, impacts collective Arab interests and poses a threat to the security and stability of the entire region.
