Brussels: The EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said that Western Europe recorded its warmest June on record, as a new heatwave grips the continent.
According to Qatar News Agency, in its monthly report, C3S stated that the average temperature in Western Europe reached 20.74 degrees Celsius in June, more than 3 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 average for the month, surpassing the previous record set in June 2025.
Strategic Lead for the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Samantha Burgess, emphasized that climate change is shifting from an abstract, statistical problem confined to reports to a tangible reality disrupting everyday life. She noted that Europe is warming much faster than the global average, highlighting those changes in atmospheric circulation are among the underlying causes.
