Awqaf Ministry Honors 2025-2026 Scholarship Graduates in Grand Ceremony

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs held its annual scholarship graduation ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year, underscoring its commitment to fostering education and developing knowledgeable individuals to serve their communities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ceremony was patronized by HE Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanem. It marked a milestone in a comprehensive educational program that combines academic achievement with values-based development. The event saw attendance from high-profile officials, including HE Undersecretary for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, assistant undersecretaries, top-echelon officials, department directors, and scholarship officials.

The ceremony celebrated multiple cohorts of students, including graduates from the scholarship program, the Religious Institute, and the Diploma in Da'wah and Islamic Sciences at the Community College. Outstanding Qatari students at the Religious Institute were also recognized, highlighting the range of educational paths supported by Awqaf. This reflects the Ministry's efforts to build a system that advances both academic and religious expertise, contributing to the nation's role in addressing issues pertaining to the Islamic community.

Director of Da'wah and Religious Guidance, Jassim bin Abdullah Al Ali, emphasized the strategic importance of the scholarship program in building a knowledgeable workforce. The program enrolls 182 students from 39 countries, showcasing its global dimension. Al Ali noted that 40% of the students excelled, showcasing the high-quality educational programs and support provided by Awqaf.

Al Ali further explained that the program extends beyond academics, incorporating a holistic qualification system that includes educational, religious, and skill development aspects. It offers a stable learning environment in Qatar, with programs in the Holy Qur'an and social activities to develop students' skills and personalities.

Additionally, 23 university scholarships were allocated at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University, allowing graduates to pursue further academic studies. Al Ali highlighted the Ministry's commitment to supporting Qatari students, with 48 outstanding students recognized and six benefiting from the government scholarship program.

The ceremony also honored educational and academic leaders for their contributions to supporting education and promoting academic values. HE Undersecretary Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani acknowledged figures such as Dr. Khalid Mohamed Al Horr, Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Ansari, and Abdulla Rashid Al Nuaimi.

The event concluded with a festive celebration, marking a key milestone in advancing the Ministry's objectives. It reflects Qatar's dedication to the education sector and aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, focusing on developing human resources and building a knowledge-based society that respects cultural and religious identity.
