Russia Says Future Dialogue with Europe Depends on EU Policy Shift

Russia: Russia's Foreign Ministry stated on Tuesday that the possibility of renewed dialogue between Moscow and Europe is contingent upon the European Union's readiness to reconsider its perceived "anti-Russian approach."

According to Qatar News Agency, Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's department of European affairs, emphasized that Moscow has not dismissed the idea of dialogue with Europe. He highlighted that Russia has consistently favored resolving disputes with its Western neighbors through diplomatic channels.

In a conversation with Russian media, Maslennikov remarked on the current challenges, noting the difficulty in observing any true willingness from Brussels to reinitiate meaningful discussions with Russia. He pointed out that dialogue within the European Union appears to be limited to deliberations on potential representatives for any future negotiations with Moscow.

Maslennikov further commented, "Europeans have not yet agreed on what exactly they would negotiate with Russia," underscoring the uncertainty surrounding whether a consensus could be achieved for such discussions.

Tensions between Russia and the European Union have escalated in recent years, fueled by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, sanctions imposed by Western nations, and wider geopolitical strains.
