UN: 135 Health Workers Killed in Lebanon Since Start of Israeli Offensive

Beirut: The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that 17 hospitals in Lebanon, including the three in Tyre, were damaged during the Israeli offensive. The UN News Centre stated in a report that 135 healthcare workers and paramedics were killed, and approximately 400 others were injured.

According to Qatar News Agency, the UN has called for the protection of hospitals and medical personnel at all times, in accordance with international law. In response to the ongoing crisis, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that humanitarian partners continue to support affected families throughout Lebanon. Since the start of the escalation, more than 182,000 people have received essential relief items.

OCHA expressed deep concern regarding the continuous impact of hostilities on healthcare and people's access to basic services. An attack near Hiram Hospital in Tyre District, South Governorate, injured ten of its staff and damaged hospital buildings and vehicles. This incident marks at least the fifth time Hiram Hospital has been affected since the escalation began on March 2.
